Terms and Conditions SMS Alert Service Terms Effective Date: March 2026
These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your participation in Tanet’s on-call SMS alert system (the “Service”). The Service is operated by Tanet (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By being added to the on-call rotation, by accepting an on-call assignment, or by replying to any message from our toll-free number (including any confirmation reply), you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not participate in the on-call rotation or reply to our messages.
1. Description of the Service We use Microsoft 365 and Twilio to forward critical operational alerts from email to SMS. The system maintains a weekly on-call rotation list. When an alert occurs, it sends an SMS containing the alert details to the designated on-call individual. To acknowledge receipt and that you are addressing the alert, you must reply exactly as instructed (e.g., “CONFIRM [AlertID]”). If no valid confirmation is received within the designated response window, the alert will escalate to management or the next on-call individual according to our internal procedures.
The Service is provided solely for business-critical operational notifications related to your on-call responsibilities.
2. Toll-Free Number and Messaging Practices All SMS messages are sent from our verified toll-free number. Message frequency is event-driven and occurs only when a critical alert requires attention (not on a scheduled or promotional basis). We send only business-critical notifications—no marketing or unrelated messages. Standard message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier plan. Message and data rates are your responsibility.
3. User Responsibilities
- You must reply exactly as instructed in the alert message (e.g., “CONFIRM [AlertID]”) to properly acknowledge and indicate you are handling the issue. Incomplete, altered, or incorrect replies may not be recognized and could result in escalation.
- You are responsible for keeping your mobile phone number current in our system. Notify your manager or support@tanet.com promptly of any changes.
- You agree not to share the toll-free number with unauthorized parties or forward, screenshot, or otherwise distribute alert contents outside the intended internal business purpose.
- You remain fully responsible for fulfilling your on-call duties, regardless of whether an SMS is received or delivered successfully.
4. Consent and Opt-Out By accepting an on-call assignment or replying to an alert message, you expressly consent to receive SMS messages from our toll-free number related to critical operational alerts. This is transactional/consent-based communication tied to your employment or contractual on-call responsibilities.
- To opt out and stop receiving messages permanently, reply STOP to any alert message.
- You may also email support@tanet.com to request removal from the on-call rotation.
- Reply HELP to any message for basic instructions and contact information.
To Opt-In: https://www.tanet.com/consent_form.pdf
We will process opt-out requests promptly in accordance with applicable standards. After opting out, you will no longer receive alerts via SMS, but you remain responsible for any alternative arrangements or duties as required by your role.
5. Data Privacy Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy (linked on our website). The Privacy Policy explains what personal data (such as your phone number, alert interactions, and confirmations) we collect, how it is used, shared with service providers like Twilio and Microsoft, stored, and protected, as well as your rights regarding that data. We treat all alert content, confirmations, and related data as confidential business information and handle it in compliance with applicable privacy laws.
6. Limitation of Liability The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” for operational convenience only. We do not guarantee uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free delivery of SMS messages, nor do we guarantee that confirmations will be received. We are not liable for any:
- Delays, failures, non-delivery, or misdelivery of alerts or confirmations due to carrier issues, network problems, device settings, Twilio/Microsoft outages, or other third-party factors;
- Any damages, losses, or consequences arising from reliance on the Service (including failure to receive or act on an alert);
- Indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages.
You acknowledge that SMS is not a guaranteed delivery mechanism, and you are responsible for performing on-call duties through any available means if SMS fails.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability shall not exceed $100 USD.
7. Changes to These Terms We may update or modify these Terms at any time. The updated version will be posted on tanet.com with the revised effective date. Your continued participation in the on-call rotation or reply to any message after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
8. Governing Law These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Washington, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes arising under or related to these Terms shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in King County, Washington.
